Dashboard: your read on the shelf

The Dashboard is the first page of every tracker and the one you should open first each refresh. It answers a single question: what changed on my category shelf since the last refresh, and what should I do about it?

What is on the Dashboard

Overview

A headline and a short paragraph naming the single most important thing that happened this period. Use See more / See less to expand it. If you read nothing else in the platform this week, read this.

What should you do

One recommended action, derived from the period's evidence. It is written to be specific enough to hand to someone — a listing change, a price review, a content brief — rather than a general observation.

The metric strip

Four counters, each linking through to the page that explains it: competitors tracked (Top 50), new entrants (Trends & Movers), movers this period (Trends & Movers), and promotions live (Pricing). Treat these as a triage tool — a spike in new entrants or movers tells you which page deserves your attention this week.

Your product (if you have anchored it)

Your claimed product's shelf position this period, plus your stated price against the set median. If Rove did not capture a rank for your product, this panel says so explicitly rather than showing a zero — a missing rank is not the same as a rank of nothing, and it will populate on the next refresh if the product returns to the shelf. Use Change my product to claim a different listing.

Threats and Opportunities

Two short lists drawn from across the tracker. Threats are things actively working against you — a strong new entrant, seasonal demand unwinding, a listing problem suppressing your discovery. Opportunities are gaps you could take — a rising search term nobody is serving, a specification no competitor lists, an empty promotional field. Each bullet is anchored to a named competitor, price or figure so you can verify it on the underlying page.

Top of the shelf

The current top five, with your own product marked if you have anchored it. View all 20/50 opens the Top 20/50 page.

Notable this period

The most significant individual rank moves — climbs, falls, entries. Full trends & movers opens the Movers page for the complete picture.

Filter and Export

Filter narrows the tracked set. It combines a free-text search across product names and descriptions — which catches attributes that are not structured features — with faceted filters built from the category's own structured attributes. Which facets appear therefore depends on the category; a typical set includes weight, colour, number of items, unit count, installation type, fuel or power type, door orientation and control type, each showing how many products carry that value.

Once a filter is on, the page states how many products match and confirms that the filter is applied to every section below. Filters also persist as you move between tabs, so you can look at, say, only freestanding units across Pricing, Features and Stock. Active filters appear as removable chips, with Clear all to reset.

Export produces a shareable file. Choose Compare products to select two to four tracked products for a side-by-side, or Export all for the full set, then pick PDF, PPTX or XLSX.

How to use it each refresh

1. Read the Overview and the recommended action.

2. Scan Threats and Opportunities. Anything that surprises you, click through to its source page and check the evidence.

3. Check your own rank and price position.

4. Use the metric strip to decide which one or two pages need a deeper read this week.

A note on interpretation

Everything on the Dashboard describes what happened on the tracked shelf. It is not a read on sales, market share or profitability, and coincident changes are shown side by side as description, not cause. Rank and price moving together is a prompt to investigate, not proof that one caused the other.
